“In our swipe-left, swipe-right mania, we attempt to bucket every issue, experience, and interaction into with or against categories. And we find that it's more difficult to like or dislike things in the 3-D world without actually having to engage with them. So we judge. And we disengage.

The theatre, however, requires our engagement. We must be present - this is fundamental. And through this engagement we might actually realize a foundational utility of art. Art helps us do two things: understand ourselves, and understand each other.

We need that now.”
